Sixty-Nine Years Together / Francis G. Smith and Joan I. Smith

This book is the story of a young couple who meet in early 1939, fall deeply in love and after a war time separation of four and a half years, marry, produce a family and live together as lovers and best friends until one dies in 2008. Both were writers and the story is told by them both. The scene moves from England to the war in the Middle East, France and Germany, and then to post war Aberdeenshire. They move to an adventurous and productive life in Tanganyika before emigrating to Australia and a new career and vastly different experiences. Their story concludes with the adventures of growing old with an expanding family populating Australia.
