Canon Francis J. Ripley was a much loved priest, whose many books and ministry of evangelization brought many to the Faith, and gave inspiration and encouragement to countless others. This volume of his prayers, first published as a thank-offering for his Golden Jubilee of Priesthood and dedicated to the memory his dearest friend Frank Duff and to the Legion of Mary that he founded, brings back to a general readership the fruits of a life time of reflection and praise. Born in St Helens, Lancashire, in 1912, ordained priest in 1939, he served as a Chaplain in the Royal Air Force, Superior of the Catholic Missionary Society, Director of the Catholic Enquiry Centre in London and the Catholic Information Centre in Liverpool and Editor of Flarepath, Catholic Truth and Booknotes and The Catholic Gazette. For many years Canon Ripley was Parish Priest of the famous parish of St Oswald and St Edmund Arrowsmith in Ashton-in-Makerfield, a centre of pilgrimage where the Holy Hand of St Edmund Arrowsmith is venerated.
