George Every has been a part of life at Oscott College in the Archdiocese of Birmingham for nearly thirty years. His scholarly writings and his lectures are well known to a wide audience, and his care of both the Recusant library and the Tower library has revealed treasures and made rare material available to scholars. Among Oscotians and George's wide circle of friends, one of the highlights of Christmas has been to receive each year the small slip of paper signed by George, containing his Christmas poem. For the first time, these poems have been published together in this collection, along with some of George's historical poems which illuminate his historical and literary interest. Ideas, words, faith and friendship characterize the richness of George's life, and A Christmas Collection celebrates them all.
